September is all about coming back with motivation and batteries recharged from the Summer, and throughout the years I’ve noticed that one of the keys to entering our new schedules and routines successfully and with motivation is through order and a beautifully organized home!

While creating an organized home is a worthy goal in itself, here are also some very practical reasons to devote time to organizing your space!
I. REDUCE STRESS & BOOST ENERGY
When your home has order, your mind, body and spirit are free from the stress of living in disorder. You can devote your time and energy to more important things.
II. SAVE TIME
When your home is not in order, it becomes easy to slide into the habit of tossing items in random places. While this might feel like a minor concern, the consequences are more significant than what they might at first seem. Rather than enjoying a cup of tea and a moment of quiet reflection at the breakfast table, you might be scrambling to find car keys, changing the flow of energy throughout those first morning hours.
III. FOSTER PERSONAL GROWTH
Each person has talents and hobbies to hone and cultivate, for personal enjoyment or in service to others. When your home is well organized, you are able to focus your time in ways that foster personal growth and fulfillment. You can take an art class, cook a nutritious meal, dig in your garden or serve those in need in your community. Life becomes more meaningful and enjoyable, and it all starts at home.
IV. EXPERIENCE HAPPINESS
Imagine for a moment what it would be like to enter your dream home. You walk through the entryway without tripping through a sea of shoes, you smell the fragrance of fresh flowers on the table, and you can truly focus on experiencing the happiness of living in a home you love!

So here are 6 of my favourite tips for creating a beautifully organized home featuring gorgeous design items that I’m currently loving!
1. INSPIRING WARDROBES
Closets can easily become overrun by unworn, ill-fitting or tired clothing. According to the 80/20 rule, we only wear 20% of the clothes in our closets 80% of the time. Getting dressed should be an inspiring moment of your day, not a stressful one, so to begin, get rid of the clothing items that you no longer wear, the items that don’t fit properly or you dislike. Something that makes all the difference in my wardrobe is incorporating the same hangers for all my clothes – some of my favourites are thin velvet hangers as they save space and avoid delicate dresses from slipping off the hangers. I also love leather hangers for a beautiful refined aesthetic for shirts and blazers.

2. MORNING MINDSET
Bedrooms are personal retreats and their primary purpose is to promote rest and relaxation. To keep a beautifully organized bedroom, make sure to start off the day by making your bed. It has been proven that making the bed has many psychological benefits, sets the tone for the day, reduces stress and avoids dust from accumulating.
3. LIFE’S EVERYDAY TREATS
Showers and baths are among life’s little everyday treats, so investing in high quality soft towels is something that your mind and body will thank you for on a daily basis. Creating your own personal logo to embroider onto hand towels, pool towels, robes and slippers is a beautiful and very personalized touch that will make your home feel even more special! For bath towels, I highly recommend designing a beautiful custom monogram for each family member in order to avoid mix ups and keeping a unified aesthetic in the whole home.
4. AN ORGANIZED & FUN LIVING ROOM
Keeping a beautifully organized living room can be a great way to make the time you spend with you loved ones memorable. Coffee tables anchor the room and are the central points around which family and friends gather, therefore it’s an element that should be selected and accessorized with care. For instance, if games are big part of a home, you can keep a beautiful chess set on top of the coffee table to add an element of beauty and fun. Another element to include on a coffee table that provokes beautiful conversation is family photo albums. Although in this digital age it is becoming rare to find physical photos, there is something so special about sitting around the living room and engaging with tangible memories that spark happiness!

5. CREATE AN EXPERIENCE: A COFFEE BAR
A coffee bar can be a fun, functional and beautiful space to have in your kitchen, particularly if you love to entertain! A home coffee bar is a highly used space, for a family as well as for visiting friends. It’s the first space that welcomes you each morning and the perfect area for a cup of tea and conversation following a delicious evening meal. Setting up a coffee bar is simple, and if you don’t have a built in coffee bar area, you can use a countertop space, or even a small table. Because people tend to be either tea or coffee lovers, it’s nice to separate these items in your coffee bar in order for people to get precisely to what they want, and I recommend keeping sugar and honey centrally located since they are used for both coffee and tea. It is also nice to designate a place for spoons and napkins that people will need to prepare their beverage. You can store tea bags and coffee capsules in a compartmented drawer underneath for a beautifully organized space!

6. A BAR STATION AT HOME
A bar cart is a wonderful addition to any living or entertaining space. It is an ideal piece to beautifully arrange and use to welcome your guests. I love bar carts for their versatility; you can customize a bar cart to meet a variety of needs beyond mixing the perfect cocktail. Bar carts are also very benefitial in small place because they are both compact and mobile. Obviously, a bar cart is most often used to mix drinks, but it can serve as a perfect water station on a hot day. If expecting guests and the temperature is climbing, you can set out bottled water, glasses, a bowl of lemon slices, straws and cocktail napkins.

I hope you enjoyed these organization tips that can have the power to spark joy into your everyday moments!
